Established in 1972, Kateshi is one of Zambia’s oldest coffee estates, located in the Northern Province near the Mafinga Plateau. Once the region’s central wet mill, it’s now producing some of Zambia’s best coffees — with its natural and honey lots winning first and second place in the Taste of Harvest competition.
Quality begins with meticulous selection: cherries are double hand-picked with over 98% ripeness, floated, fermented in sealed tanks, and slow-dried on raised beds for three to four weeks. The result is a cup with exceptional clarity and depth.
Kateshi is also a model of socially responsible farming. The estate provides clean drinking water to over 20,000 people, supports education for more than 1,500 students across three schools, and offers free basic healthcare at the region’s only clinic. It challenges gender norms by employing women in traditionally male-dominated roles such as tractor and bulldozer operation, and even sponsors a first division football team — the Kateshi Coffee Bullets.
