FARM : Café de Chamarel
ALTITUDE : 280 MASL
VARIETAL : K7
PROCESS : Washed
In the south-west highlands of Mauritius, Chamarel sits at 280 metres above sea level — the island’s only active coffee farm. Established in 1967, its 16 hectares of pure Arabica grow in volcanic soils under a humid, gently lit microclimate, sheltered by lines of palm trees. Cherries are hand-picked between May and September, washed, fermented, and sun-dried on site before careful roasting, producing a profile shaped entirely by this rare Mauritian terroir.
Chamarel is more than a farm. It’s a living part of the island’s agricultural story — one you can walk through, from rows of trees to the drying beds. The farm serves the only coffee grown, roasted, and brewed in Mauritius, with bags of freshly roasted beans available to take home. Hundred House are proud to be the UK’s only distributor of this unique origin.
