June Coffee
IMBALU, UGANDA
This lot comes from The Coffee Gardens, working with producer Norman Mukuru to bring coffees from Mount Elgon to the UK.
With nearly 20 years of experience, Norman is known for his expertise in natural processing. At The Coffee Yard, his drying station in Mount Elgon's foothills, he sources cherries from Sironko, Mbale, Bulambuli and Kapchorwa. Since 2018, he has refined his fermentation and drying methods to create more expressive flavour profiles.
Harvest runs from August to January, depending on altitude. Cherries are floated, sorted, graded by colour and density, then carefully fermented before being slow-dried on raised beds for at least 21 days.
The result is a clean, balanced cup that reflects both the character of the natural process and the unique terroir of Mount Elgon.
