231LondonRoad is an artist-led contemporary art gallery and project space exhibiting work by living, practicing artists. We foster a critical and intentional environment where the work comes first. Danielle Friesen
Danielle Friesen (b. 1997, Winnipeg, MB, Canada) is an emerging artist based in St Leonards-on-Sea, United Kingdom. Working from a foundation in drawing, she invests time into rigorous repetitious mark making, in tandem with intervening with specific found and kept ephemera. Danielle makes this work in conversation with fleeting and intuitive aspects of her experience.
Danielle holds a BFA from NSCAD University (2025) and a Diploma in Graphic Design from Red River College Polytechnic (2019). Her work has been exhibited internationally in group exhibitions and shown in hum (2025), a solo exhibition at Anna Leonowens Gallery in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Most recently, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia acquired a work for its permanent collection.
Oliver Zephyr Chard
Oliver Zephyr Chard (b. 1992, London, UK) grew up in London and Copenhagen before relocating to Winnipeg, Canada, in 2005. Now based in the UK, Oliver creates sculptures using processed materials that retain their roots in the natural world, exploring core elements of the human experience. Oliver began his studies at Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver, BC, before leaving to pursue a decade of independent research and exploration. He later completed his degree at Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University in Halifax, NS, Canada.
Oliver’s sculptures have been showcased internationally in art fairs, solo and group exhibitions, and public installations. In addition to his artistic practice, Oliver has contributed to the arts community by serving on juries for art competitions.
